A Shanghai girl waits backstage during a cosplay competition. Cosplay, a contraction of the English words 'costume' and 'play', began as a Japanese subculture in which people dressed as characters from manga comics, anime (animated films) or video games. Television shows, action films and pop music bands are also sometimes sources of inspiration.

一個上海的女孩在一場同人(角色扮演)比賽的後台等待。同人的英文Cosplay是Costume(裝扮)與Play(扮演)的縮寫。。這項活動原本是日本的一種次文化,參與的人會裝扮成連環漫畫、動畫、或是電玩裡的角色。電視節目、動作片、還有流行樂團有時候也能成為角色扮演的靈感來源。

During the communist era, circus was one of the most popular forms of entertainment in Poland. Circus performers built up huge followings. Polish artistes worked for some of the biggest and the most prestigious outfits in the world. They all came from a circus school in Julinek, which was considered to be among the best in Eastern Europe. Since the 1990s, Julinek has been slowly dying. Now, the circus center that once employed up to 1,500 artists and technicians has closed due to financial problems.
